This week's picks for Lausanne

Matt Hagen climbs from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man before a crime boss leaves him disfigured, and a cutting-edge treatment restores his face while loosening his grip on reality and sending him spiraling into all-consuming revenge. Director James Watkins keeps the stakes personal and the momentum relentless, with Tom Rhys Harries, Naomi Ackie, and Eddie Marsan giving it weight. Playing in English in Lausanne, this dark, kinetic ride rewards the biggest screen you can find.

Aaron Sorkin turns the tale of whistleblower Frances Haugen and reporter Jeff Horwitz into a taut drama that crackles with the kind of electricity you want on a great night out. Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White lead a cast that makes every hushed conversation feel urgent, and you will both be talking it over long after the credits roll. It is the sort of smart, pulse-quickening story that pulls a couple closer.
